I just recently found this article about Vance’s continual spinning of his own narrative to skillfully remake himself into whatever will advance his ascent into power- which is what he really wants. A listener from Ohio who refuses to accept any blame for this worthless empty suit of a senator.
My brother has lived in Asheville (actually Swannanoa) almost 50 years and I lived next door to him for 2 years during my residency at Mission. Such a beautiful place! We have friends/family in Lake Lure as well. My brother responded to one text and my niece posted safe on Facebook today, but otherwise we haven't heard from them. So scary not knowing what's going on!
It’s so scary. I have a friend over near Cherokee that I still haven’t heard from. I wish your family the best. The stories I’ve been hearing have made me sick
Thank you! I finally got another text yesterday - they're fine, the house is fine, they got cell service back Tuesday. They are supposed to get power back today but it will likely take *weeks* to get water back. WEEKS. So awful!
BTW I've really been enjoying your podcast collabs and hope you continue! I love that you're such a fan of the mountains :)
Yeah, it’s my happy place. I mean who doesn’t want to slide down a waterfall into 30 degree water 😂 When I stay in hotel it’s usually the Hampton Inn in Black Mountain, right next to Swannanoa. I’m very sad when I see the damage to the town. I’m happy that your brother and his home is doing okay.
I’m just gonna say it: the fact that you like Dune from 1984 is worthy of a big big bear hug! I adore that movie and I like the extended version even more 😁
I think it’s a MUCH better movie than it gets credit for and I will defend it until my last breath. Bravo, Justin, bravo.
I get why people don't like it but, come on, it's sooo good! And the soundtrack! MWAH! I like the music in the new movies but it doesn't compare at all to Toto. The scene with the Box? THE PAIN!!!!! That line at the end? "Try looking into that place where you dare not look. You'll find me there staring back at you!" Classic.

And, yes, I loved the new movies too.
