House GOP Fundraising Sucks. Say Hello To The Blue Wave Of '24
They wanted money to decide elections and now it's biting them right in their smug stupid asses.

Republicans have spent the last 15 years flooding our elections with money. The assumption was that they would always be able to outspend the left and therefore buy their way into power. And for a little while, it worked.
But then the left got really good at fundraising. Partly through innovation, partly through the right giving us unlimited amounts of motivation. Also partly because Republicans can never stop grifting so not a small amount of the money they raise goes into their own pockets instead of campaigning. Whoops. Greedy morons.
That already puts the House GOP in a bad spot. Mike Johnson is making it worse:
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson's fundraising efforts are floundering in comparison to his predecessor's, something that may be "critical" to Republicans electoral success, an expert has told Newsweek.
…
On April 11, Johnson announced that he raised more than $20 million in the first quarter of the year. A Newsweek review of Federal Election Commission documents showed that Grow the Majority, the joint fundraising committee he created in November, raised $9,080,412 in that time.
In comparison, his predecessor, Kevin McCarthy, launched the Protect the House 2024 PAC in February 2023 to fund the GOP, and it raised $28 million in the first quarter of that year, a comparable period.
A comparable period? Not really. We are now in an election year. THE election year. This is when fundraising should be ramping up, not petering out.
There have been some questions about Johnson’s ability to successfully fill McCarthy’s fundraising shoes. It’s not a question of Johnson’s intelligence (or McCarthy’s). Johnson simply was not part of leadership and consequently had no experience fundraising on this level. He also did not have the connections and infrastructure in place. He muddled along but in an election year? That’s not going to cut it.
Normally, the RNC would step in where Johnson is falling short but nope! That’s not happening. If you missed the details, Donald Trump has gutted the RNC and turned it into his own personal piggy bank. Very little of the money donated will go to anyone but Trump and his allies. I promise you, you’re going to be reading articles 5 months from now (and not just from me) detailing just how fucked down-ballot races are because Trump’s RNC turned off the money spigot.
All of this is before the very likely removal of Johnson as Speaker sometime in the next couple of weeks. The House Russian Freedom Caucus is making it clear they will move to remove Johnson if he allows a vote on funding for Ukraine.
Will Democrats step in and save Johnson? Not unless that was a condition of his putting Ukraine up for a vote. If so, Democrats can wring a whole lot more concessions than just that if they want. A protracted leadership struggle less than seven months before election day would be the electoral equivalent of drinking bleach laced with cyanide and then jumping off of a building. I wouldn’t recommend it.
If there’s no deal with Democrats, who knows how long it will take to pick a new Speaker? House Republicans are a hot mess and without Democrats to bail their asses out, we may run out of popcorn watching them self-destruct.
But even if Putin’s Putzes don’t pull the trigger, the GOP is looking at a very sad and lonely night in November. With a two-seat majority, the Democrats just have to sneeze really hard to take back control of the House.
They plan on doing a lot more than sneezing.
There is already $168 million being spent on just retaking the House. Democratic fundraising is crushing Republican efforts. And Biden isn’t stealing most of it to pay for lawyers. Well, Republicans wanted money to be speech, right? Now Democrats are roaring and Republicans are…not.
Between the House GOP wasting its time on stupid crap like fake impeachments, outrage over…appliances?,1 and crying over Hunter Biden’s penis, they have nothing to show for their two years in power. Add to that being vastly outgunned in fundraising2 and Republicans will be lucky if they only lose 25 seats.
Say hello to the blue wave of ‘24.
There are 201 days until the 2024 election. Vote blue like your life depends on it.
The thing with the appliances was so fucking stupid and Republicans were laughed at so hard, even they decided to quietly back away from it.
And under all of that is the rage of women trawling like sharks in the wave. You almost have to feel bad for Republicans. But, really? Fuck those assholes.
I’m asking everyone to contact your Democratic Representatives (if you have any) and Minority Leader Jeffries & urge them to do whatever deal they can that will get aid to Ukraine SOONEST.
I know it’s delicious to watch Republican dysfunction, but Ukraine will fall before those chuckleheads get a new Speaker through their gauntlet of stupidity. Time is running out!
“They wanted money to decide elections and now it's biting them right in their smug stupid asses.”
At absolutely every opportunity Republicans should be reminded that swords cut both ways.
- Money is speech? Great. Then we’ll outspend you and drown you out.
- You want to ban books if a single parent raises an objection? Good idea. Let’s say goodbye to the Bible.
- The second amendment should be absolute? OK then. Every member of BLM can now walk around armed.
And of course, the latest addition:
- The president should get absolute immunity from everything? What a deal! Then Biden can order Trump shot on sight.
